Last year I was honored to meet and photograph Caroline Crawford Riddle. Caroline is a wife, a mother, and a fantastic artist. She sells her paintings through shows, a couple of local places in North Carolina, and on Instagram!
Caroline has a really incredible testimony, that is both unique and emotional. She shared part of it with me while I photographed her branding session, and I was moved to say the least. Painting and relying on the Lord truly helped her out of a dark place in her life.
Here is a little about Caroline’s story:
I have painted since I was a little girl. Born and raised in Eastern NC, I went across the state to study art at Appalachian State University. Although I temporarily changed career paths, I have continued to paint over the last 25 years while raising a family and living in Greenville, SC.
I paint with acrylic/mixed media on canvas or board. I would describe my style as impressionistic, with bold use of color and heavy texture. My favorite subjects are still different life and the seascapes and landscapes that remind me of the coasts and mountains of the Carolinas. I have recently enjoyed painting the old barns that quickly fade from the scenic landscapes in our countryside.
I see my painting as a blessing from God. I seek to honor Him by using my gift to reach others. As a person in long-term recovery from alcohol addiction, painting has become a place of healing and outreach. To those who are either seeking recovery or know of someone struggling with addiction. I hope that my work reflects my love for God and my joy and appreciation for redemption and life in recovery!
Caroline shares her story with all walks of women now at her painting showings. During our session, I felt like I not only got to know her, but I also got to know her heart. She is one of those people that God is using to further his kingdom through her life and testimony. You can just see the passion she has for painting through the photographs I was so fortunate to take. Thank you, Caroline, for trusting me with your branding session; I can’t wait to see you again soon!
